In this article, We will put more light on another annoying error in Google Chrome, the Err_Connection_Reset. It’s one of the most common mistakes in Google Chrome browser.
Before you get started, you should know the reason that caused the Err_Connection_Reset error and then the appropriate solution to solve it. There are proper methods that you can use to resolve the “connection reset” error and help you to re-access the internet.
Check Your Proxy Settings
It does not have any builtin sock/proxy settings like in Mozilla Firefox. Google Chrome uses the sock/proxy settings of your computer as its settings by default.
So if you used any proxies before and you forgot to turn off it in the LAN configuration of your PC, it may cause this error.
In other To resolve this issue, go to C-Panel, and make a simple click on the Internet Options.
Next, kindly click on the Connections tab and choose the “LAN” settings option.
As the image below, make sure the option is not checked. And then click on the OK button. Your problem should be solved immediately.
Reset Your IP Address
Open the Command Prompt up by clicking on Start > type cmd.exe >, then press Enter. You must open the Command Prompt program as an Administrator user If the current user is not an Administrator user.
In this next step, type:
netsh Winsock reset catalog
and then press Enter.
After that, restart your computer and you should be done.
Disable Your Firewall Or Antivirus Program
Your built-in Windows firewall or antivirus program can block your internet connection and create the Err_Connection_Reset error sometimes. However, uninstalling Windows firewall or antivirus program is not a good idea because viruses and other malicious programs may attack your PC.
Instead of uninstalling, you can temporarily disable your Windows firewall or antivirus program to test if it is the cause or not. If the internal software firewall or antivirus program created this “connection reset” error, find out why it blocks your internet connection and then unblock them.
Clean Old And Error Windows Registry Entries
It might be the cause of this “connection reset” error. You must also clean your Windows registry with CCleaner or TuneUp Utilities.
Setup the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU)
- Go to the start menu
- input ‘run‘ there & click on it
- launch it & type ” ncpa.cpl ” there
- Click on “OK” button or press enter on it.
- A pop-up will open, and you will see the wireless networks there

netsh interface IPv4 set subinterface “Wireless Network Connection 4” mtu=1472 store=persitent
- Replace the Local Area Connection with the name of your network adapter
- Then, Press Enter
- That’s it, Done
With above methods, I believed you have already solved the Err_Connection_Reset error in Google Chrome browser or your window. I would also suggest you always check your internet connection regularly before following this guide. Your internet provider (ISP) has stopped your internet connection due to errors or overdue payment sometimes.
So, if you can use the internet on other devices on the same network, then the cause is on your computer. You can try out another web browser like Mozilla Firefox to browse the same website. If there is no error with the Firefox browser, I would suggest you reinstall your Google Chrome browser.
